About Newton’s Theory 

Newton’s Theory is a team of Finance Directors, CFOs and Management Accountants, who specialise in growing businesses, raising funds, overcoming profits and cashflow challenges, and planning for a future exit.


Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Preparing sales invoices
  • Processing purchase invoices and preparing supplier payment runs
  • Seeking approval for purchase invoices
  • Resolving cost queries
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Credit control
  • VAT returns
  • Month end management accounting (fixed assets & depre; accruals & prepayments; BS recs)
  • Comparing monthly results to budget and talking with budget holders on their spend
  • Tidying up year-to-date accounts, eg reallocating spend to the correct codes and projects.
  • Being hands-on and problem-solving. Being comfortable calling people within our client’s teams, to resolve queries as they come up.
  • Supporting the FD in understanding the costs of the business. Our clients are growing or in the scale-up or new product stage, which means there are new COS and operational costs that our FD may need your support in discovering what they are and how fixed/variable they are.

Skills and Experience:

  • Qualifications: Suit AAT qualified
  • Experience: 5+ years’ experience in a hands-on and varied finance assistant role is key.
  • Flexibility: An ability to multi-task between projects and day-to-day tasks and prioritise effectively.
  • IT skills: Our clients generally use Xero, SAP and Sage, experience with these platforms would be beneficial (though not essential). We’re looking for good Excel skills.

  • Role: Assistant Management Accountant
  • Salary: £34,000 pro-rata
  • Contract: Part-time, Permanent 
  • Hours: 3 days (21 hrs) a week
  • Location: Remote working
