We are delighted to introduce Amy Twomey, who has supported our City Of Change campaign through Off the Fence.
Can you tell us who you are, a little bit about you, and your professional background?
I’m Amy, the Production Manager at Off the Fence. I work in a team at Off the Fence who produce some of the film inserts for The One Show. We are very happy to offer work placement opportunities to young people as the fast paced nature of production means they are likely to experience all stages of the production process during the one or two weeks that they are with us.
Placements are organised with those who contact us directly and also through universities.
After a successful two week placement with Babbasa last year, we wanted to join the campaign
again to extend the opportunity to those that we are not already reaching.
What do you think young people may contribute to your company?
I think young people have lots to contribute, such as enthusiasm, fresh and innovative ideas and new ways of looking at things.
What do you hope younger people may contribute to your company?
I hope that younger people will be proactive and confident in sharing their ideas and
perspectives. The more they are willing to contribute the more they will get out of the
placement.
What do you think companies may be missing by having a lack of younger
voices/influence in the company?
It’s easy to keep working in the same familiar way. But younger people can bring new
experiences, knowledge of new technologies and ideas to challenge and ultimately improve
ways of working.
What advice do you wish someone had given you at the start of your career?
Be confident to speak up and share your thoughts and opinions, as they are important and will be valued.
