The direct support for young people includes soft skills training, mentoring, and information and guidance support. The direct support for employers includes Recruitment, Inclusion Advisory Support, Cultural Competency Training, Research, Inclusion Needs Analysis and Onboarding Support. Over the next decade, Babbasa plans to grow its services to both young people and employers to respond to the pressing imperative to overcome the structural barriers to workforce inclusion and associated social inequalities in Bristol and beyond.

 

Job Purpose

 

Reporting directly to the CEO this is a pivotal senior role which is responsible for developing, maintaining, expanding and strengthening Babbasa’s commercial revenue.  Leading a small focused team, your task will be to directly provide a business development and account management approach for corporate partners – leading on negotiations for OurCity2030 pathway cluster, corporate partnerships, pro bono offers, social responsibility arrangements and individual commercial services. Through creative sales, teamwork, stewarding and exemplary customer service, you will provide value for engaged corporate partners and generate revenue for the continued success and long term goals of Babbasa. 

 

Core Responsibilities

 

Business development

  • Lead the annual income generation planning process to produce effective strategies to achieve income targets across the range of revenue streams 
  • Identify new potential income streams and produce strategies to access these funds – new clients, markets, trends and services from cross-sector organisations
  • Lead and support sales, negotiations and finalising contracts and terms of business with both new and existing clients, on behalf of Babbasa
  • Lead on the pro-bono resource strategy working with lead reports to maximise pro-bono relationships and in-kind resources for the benefit of Babbasa and our beneficiaries
  • Complete robust reporting of Babbasa’s financial performance against the business plan and work with the Leadership Support Team to complete financial forecasting, budget creation, and risk management
  • Directly manage, steward and generate commercial income from Babbasa’s portfolio of corporate and public sector clients e.g City Council, WECA, private sector employers etc
  • Work with the Head of Comms & Policy Engagement to raise the profile and increase the brand awareness of Babbasa and OurCity2030 for buy-in
  • Develop and maintain an effective strategy and supporter journeys that engages Babbasa’s Leadership Support Team and board for the development of authentic relationships and retention of key stakeholders (corporate partners, individual donors, and pro bono relationships)

 

Management & Reporting

  • Line management of the Senior Business Engagement Leads (3) who will be directly responsible for BRIS services, Equal Opportunity Ambassador network and individual giving from Equal Opportunity Ambassadors and High Net Individuals
  • Work with the Leadership Support Team, as a Head of Department, to ensure the successful delivery of client contracts to specifications
  • Produce and monitor budgets to achieve revenue targets and plans in a cost-effective way
  • Directly lead on producing and/or signing off external evaluation reports for corporate partnerships and public sector contracts
  • Track, review and report progress against business plan (budget and goals) to leadership team
  • Continually review risks, feedback, procedures, strategy and approach to improve profitability
  • Liaise with management team to develop plans/strategies for organisational growth 
  • Manage and report on the organisational revenue against targets to management team
  • Maintain excellent working knowledge of the labour market, workplace culture and changes regarding equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) in the workplace

 

Person Specification

(Must haves)

You are commercially aware – you can demonstrate that you know how to spot and develop an opportunity and manage the process of engagement through to handover of an agreement with scheduled deliverables.  You have the ability to manage multiple stakeholders, experience of corporate partnerships and an aptitude to develop meaningful connections with businesses, institutions and individuals for the common good. You have an interest in or understand the impact of policy (government, regional and local authority) on communities and procurement processes.

 

You have experience – you have at least 2 years experience and have a demonstrable track record of stakeholder management, achievement of revenue targets at management level, implementing business plans, track record of developing strategies and initiatives that have increased an organisation’s income and utilising brand for business development. 

 

You have excellent communication and leadership skills – through your experience you can demonstrate that you are able to manage people, teams, and coordinate external consultant contracts effectively, in a human centred way, to bring out the best in everyone.  You are a confident connector with the ability to influence decision making, whilst understanding the social value and positive impact of Babbasa.

 

Working with others – You have experience with proactively identifying business needs, scoping and planning projects to address them, and successfully drive the project to completion, involving and engaging colleagues appropriately throughout. You develop and maintain excellent working relationships with formal and informal stakeholders at every level – with the young people on our programmes, with staff in each department, with our external consultants, with our Board and with others. You build trust and can stand in the shoes of others.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience in two or more of the following: corporate partnerships, strategic communications, account management, multi-stakeholder management, public sector, procurement bids/commissions, social value, sponsorship negotiations
  • Experience of writing proposals, together with broader budget and financial management capability
  • Leadership record of building, managing and motivating a team to achieve set targets and goals
  • Knowledge of and interest in Equity and Inclusion, employment law and experience of its application within the business environment.   
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the local business community in the Southwest (UK)
  • Demonstrable commitment to Babbasa’s values and professional development

 

Desirable

  • Experience in public sector
  • L3 and above business and marketing principle qualifications
