I’m the outreach and engagement lead at Babbasa – in my role I go out and about all over Bristol meeting young people and getting them involved with all the excellent programmes at Babbasa. It’s a great role because it means I get to work directly with inspiring and creative young people. I also work with the Babbasa Trailblazers – our amazing alumni – supporting them with their plans. I graduated last year, and finishing my degree was probably the last big challenge I had to face – that was definitely touch-and-go – but I made it through.

I started at Babbasa – during my degree – working as an intern. I enjoyed it so much that after my placement ended I knew I wanted to stay on if I could – and luckily enough there was a role for me! There are so many great things about working at Babbasa, the team are brilliant, and you learn so much every day, but the highlight has definitely been meeting and working with really great young people with amazing and original ideas.

In the future, I would really like a Netflix stand-up special, because they hand those out to basically everyone and I reckon I could do a pretty good job at it! To other young people I would say the most important thing to remember is that you only have to answer to yourself – so do what makes you happy and don’t let anyone else’s expectations get you down.

We believe Bristol’s most marginalised deserve access to support at their own pace; have their voices heard; and have access to real work opportunities.
