Hello, my name is Louise (pronouns she/her). I am the Assistant Services Manager where my role is to support the leadership of the Services Team whilst managing a variety of commissioned projects and contributing to growing our organisational impact.
Before Babbassa I worked 13+ years across the charity and educational sector leading on equality, diversity and inclusion projects to implement strategic and cultural change. I have always been passionate about social justice issues which was fired up when I was at University where I went from leading the LGTB+ Society to doing 2 years sabbatical as Vice President Community Welfare. This was the springboard to my career and grew my passion in supporting and equipping young people to reimagine and create the world that they want to live in.
Some of my proudest achievements have been carrying the Olympic torch in London 2012 as a recognition of my community work and most recently doing a TEDx talk on mental health exploring the value of breakdowns whilst calling for greater compassion around mental health discourse. I am passionate about curating spaces where individuals can be authentically themselves and the ripple effect this has in creating a more inclusive society.
Outside of work, I am a trustee at Watershed which is the home of cultural cinema, talent development and creative technology in Bristol – whilst also supporting other organisations through executive and volunteer roles.
I am an award winning equality specialist with a strong intersectionality ethos to my work – particularly interested in race equity, LGBT+ inclusion and mental health. My first love has always been equality and diversity – and I am extremely proud that I have developed a flourishing career in it. Joining Babbasa has been the perfect blend of the things that I am most passionate about: social inclusion, leadership and empowerment, stakeholder engagement and organisational consultancy. I am excited to have the opportunity to apply it to changing the lives of young people in Bristol. I look forward to working or engaging with you soon!
My advice to young people: “You can achieve anything and everything you put your mind to. Manifest the life that you want and step by step work on making it come alive. You 100% deserve all that you’ve imagined for yourself and more.”
