Hi! I’m Navinder, I’m Babbasa’s Operations Assistant. I handle any daily tasks within administration/ HR duties and contribute to the smooth running of the office. If I was to describe myself in three words it would be: ambitious, kind, and creative!

The last challenge I had to face was navigating my career after graduation and envisioning where I want to be/ what I want to achieve in my professional career. I’ve always been ambitious, but being a mentee at Babbasa has really helped me to realise my goals and having the exact support I needed encouraged me to continue with my vision and overcome any barriers. It showed me how resilient I was, and made me proud of my determination. But it also helped me to realise I would love to help others on their career journey if possible whilst pursuing my own goals.

I was attracted to Babbasa because of how dedicated the team was to helping young people achieve their professional goals, and how personally dedicated they were to helping me as a mentee made me want to be a part of such a kind and caring team. I love how varied my current role is and the wide level of training I have been receiving – the team also encourages my wider goals and interests outside of work Everyone is so passionate about the work going on at Babbasa! The level of detail they go to in making sure each young person is catered to and understood is inspiring and heart-warming.

Working here has taught me how far kindness and passion can really take you!

Moving forward, besides my skills training, I will definitely apply the same level of passion and kindness into my future work, and hopefully continue to pass on everything I have learnt from Babbasa about navigating my professional career

Three pieces of advice I would give to other young people is: 1. Always take time to appreciate all the boundaries you have overcome and the achievements you’ve made, no matter how stressful or busy life can get. 2. There are no limitations to your goals, only the ones you tell yourself. 3. Do something that makes you happy, the more you enjoy your job/lifestyle the more likely you are to succeed!

We believe Bristol’s most marginalised deserve access to support at their own pace; have their voices heard; and have access to real work opportunities.
