My name is Stara, I host for Babbasa TV and help to coordinate, film and edit Babbasa TV content! If I was to describe myself, I would say I am a creative person who loves to come up with ideas. I would also say I’m passionate about my work and really enjoy discussing topics and hearing people’s opinions.
The last challenge I had to face career-wise was finding my path and what I really wanted to do. As someone who enjoys many things, it was hard for me to pick one thing to focus on. What motivated me to overcome this was to have experiences trying these things, whether that was hosting, acting or editing. A lot of these experiences were through Babbasa. This helped me find the thing I enjoyed the most. This has positively impacted my life as I now have a clear goal I am heading toward and I can take the correct steps to reach that goal.
I wanted to join the Babbasa team because I liked how they supported people from similar backgrounds as myself. Helping young people and striving for change is something I am passionate about. I enjoy working at Babbasa because of how diverse the staff are. It makes me feel comfortable being myself in the workplace. Also, everyone is super friendly and there isn’t a hierarchy between the staff. Every job role is treated fairly and recognised as a valuable role to Babbasa.
My highlight was definitely filming Babbasa TV content at PYTCH Studios. It was great to film in an amazing space! Babbasa has taught me a lot about working in a team, and the work that goes behind the scenes when working on a project.
The advice i would give to young people is:
- Consider all options before making a decision about further education. Internships and Apprenticeships are great alternatives to university!
- Try new things! You may discover you have a passion for something you never expected until you tried it! Before working in the media, I wanted to be a lawyer.
- Make sure the career decisions you are making are for yourself! Of course you want to please the people close to you, but it’s your future. So choose something you would enjoy doing.
