Summer Internship with Arcadis, Arup or Mott MacDonald

Overview:

The Strategic Partner (Arcadis, Arup and Mott MacDonald) consists of three companies who are working in partnership to help Bristol City Council deliver new infrastructure, homes and regeneration in the City of Bristol. We are all large, global companies with Bristol offices. You will gain experience with us in Bristol, that could kick-start a career in the built environment.

We are seeking talented and motivated individuals to join our team as for a summer internship. As an inclusive employer, we encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds, abilities, and experiences. 

We are seeking candidates who are looking to get experience in the built environment through paid internships. We will work with successful candidates to tailor the internship, allowing them to work in areas that fit their skills and interests, these could be focused on:

  1. Engineering: the role may include research and engineering design through the use of digital technologies and calculations, developing reports and plans, and collaborative contributions to wider project objectives and completion.
  2. Project management: the role may include implementing project management processes, business strategy developing project plans, managing reporting and supporting a Project Management Office.
  3. Consulting: the role may include conducting desktop research, economic analysis, strategic advice on developing reports, proposals and presentations for clients, and developing creative solutions to the problems cities face.
  4. Commercial Management: the role may include a mix of delivery on exciting projects, researching the latest cost data to support creation of estimates and cost plans. There will also be the opportunity get involved in the management of our fees and costs across a host of projects, providing an early understanding of how we maintain a profitable business.

 

Potential projects include: city centre development, flood strategy, climate change planning, housing development and regeneration, transport infrastructure, and community facilities. You will work alongside skilled professionals and contribute to the success of real projects in Bristol which will impact the city for years to come.

Skills and Competencies:

Successful candidates should:

  • Have a keen interest in and enthusiasm for the built environment and cities, with a desire to influence the spaces, infrastructure, and systems in which people live, work and play.
  • Be studying for an undergraduate degree, have completed an undergraduate degree or be exploring a Level 4+ Apprenticeship
  • Have strong communication and collaborative skills 
  • Have good numerical and analytical skills
  • Be innovative thinkers 
  • Have strong time management skills 
  • A driven individual
