“I went to a school where I felt a lack of encouragement for ethnic minorities to study academically and creatively challenging subjects.
Despite feeling discouraged, with the support of Babbasa I got a professional mentor who supported me to complete my A-levels and create a portfolio of work.
That enabled me to gain an unconditional offer from the University of East London, studying BA Architecture. My mentor also helped me to write a CV which got me work experience in the Architecture industry.
I feel that this scheme is so beneficial to young people, as most of my friends seem to lack self-esteem, and this would give them confidence, an opportunity to gain work experience, and an opportunity to be able to build contacts.”
