Close The Gap Drinks Reception for City Leaders

A huge thanks to those who joined us for our Close The Gap Drinks Reception for City Leaders, held on World Youth Skills Day.

Attendees from the business, civic, education and funding sectors heard from Babbasa Founder, Poku Osei, and Babbasa Interim Chair, Paul Jacobs about why Babbasa are running the Close The Gap fundraising appeal, and how they can support.

Key takeaways were:

• Youth unemployment is at a 30-year high, with as estimated 10,000 young people in Bristol currently not in education, employment, or training.
• Many of these young people live in Bristol’s most deprived areas – places like Bristol South and Bristol East, where only 53.5% are in sustained employment by age 28
• Babbasa exists to break that cycle, supporting over 4,000 underserved young people to date to unlock their potential and progress into meaningful employment, education, or enterprise.
